Heaven Minded
Why is it that we are not more heavenly minded? I know if I would view things in the light of eternity more than all the so called crisis`s that I face would seem like nothing. I am a highly emotional being, it is a characteristic I do not like. Over the years it has been toned down a bit, but I still react over things that would be better to just let go. I have 5 people I know that are either fighting cancer or suffering the ravages of survivng cancer and coping with the side effects of what the treatments have done to their bodies. They are all thankful focused individuals who view life in the light of eternity. Each day is a gift and they know how brief our time on earth is. I have moments where I`m like that but it shameful to admit that I all to often view things in a narrow minded "Me" scope. I know that God is helping me to look at everyday through His eyes and not the world`s eyes. Little by little everyday, little by little in every way my Jesus is changing me . . . . as the song goes. I am highly emotional too. It helps at a party, because I am usually the excited one laughing my head off. But then at home I am also the one crying my head off. Remember, while those people are viewing life in the light of eternity, they have a friend who is validating their life here and now, you. You are a blessing to so many sick, I love you like crazy!
Those moments where you are heaven minded are precious- I believe they will keep coming! Emotions aren't necessarily a bad thing, it's what we do with them that counts, and it sounds like you are doing the right thing with yours, if that makes sense.
Cindy,
I know what you mean by reacting badly to situations in life that you really should be able to take in your stride...
Even though we know that we should give it all to Jesus, it is sometimes not that easy to do in reality - well, not for me anyway.
We have been given our emotions for a reason. Shame we don't always know why?
Hi Cindy,
Saw your comment on Darlene's post and found your blog. Thank you for reminding me to be more heaven-minded. Lately it's been crunch time at work and I'm not myself. You helped bring me around to remember what's important.
Oh--and you also have good taste in blog templates!
Cindy, if you haven't already, read Rick Warren's "The Purpose-Driven Life". Our church is doing a "40 Days of Purpose" emphasis leading up to Easter. It is the best thing I've ever done for myself--but of course, it's ultimately not for me, but rather for our Father. Check around and see if there's a group doing it somewhere near you, or start a group at your church or in your home.
We're all just trying to do our best to please God. Stay the course, and keep the faith--and give it away, too!
I noticed Jeffs comment and I was reminded of something your posted the other day. You said something about asking the people around you what they think drive's you, and I said it was your children. That is one of the things I am sure I went through in Purpose Drive Life. Are you going through that book too?
I love Oprah's saying. We are spiritual beings having a human experience, not humans having a heavenly experience. Therefore emotions comes with the human experience Enjoy all of it.
